Based in Vancouver, Canada, Derek Weselake aka WEZ, is a Spectrum published Canadian concept artist and Illustrator that specializes in both realistic and stylized design solutions that appeal to both western and eastern markets. He primary deals with IP development, environment design, character design, and illustration for the video game, film, and animation industries. Derek grew up being trained in traditional mediums, and now primarily uses a blend of 3D and 2D drawing tools to come up with design solutions for the next generation of entertainment.
Derek has been published in several artbooks including spectrum best in contemporary fantastic art, had his work featured as the key visuals on a global Discovery Channel event, aided in the visual development of Emmy award winning projects such as Lost in Oz, and has worked on several multi-billion dollar franchises including Gears of War, League of Legends, and Currently MegaMan.
